Islamabad: The Islamabad-based International Islamic University has signed an agreement yesterday with a German radio for assistance to the university's radio service.
A representative of Radio Deutsche Welle and a senior university official signed the accord under which the German radio would provide educational and informative programmes for re-broadcasting.
Training facilities to the professionals of the Islamic university radio would also be extended.
The university, established in 1980 near the imposing Faisal Mosque in the Pakistani capital, has developed into a unique institution of higher learning, integrating parallel streams of religious and modern education.
It currently has around 11,000 students from 57 member states of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, including 5,000 female students.
The university is building an additional faculty block at its women's campus.
