Islamabad: Pakistan's elected government is ready to engage in a constructive dialogue with India on finding a solution to the Kashmir dispute, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Saturday.

During a meeting with the Kashmiri leadership at the foreign ministry here, Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to seeking a just and peaceful resolution in line with aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Qureshi said the issue had been under discussion between the two countries within the framework of their dialogue initiated four years ago. He said a solution acceptable to Pakistan, India and the people of Kashmir should be evolved.

Qureshi's statement comes ahead of a forthcoming visit of his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee, who is due here soon to start another round of talks under the bilateral dialogue process.

Meanwhile, 14 Pakistani fishermen released from Indian jails as a "goodwill gesture" reached Karachi yesterday where they were received by a team of the Fishermen's Cooperative Society. "All the 14 fishermen released are in good health and have also brought messages from other Pakistani fishermen in the Indian jails," Rahim Kaka, a member of the FCS, said on phone. He said all 14 fishermen are Karachi-based and were arrested on July 17 and October 11 last year for allegedly fishing in Indian territorial waters.
