Lahore: Five militants suspected of plotting suicide attacks in revenge for an offensive against pro-Taliban militants have been arrested in Pakistan, officials said.

The suspects were arrested in Lahore on Tuesday night and were in possession of suicide-bomb jackets, explosives and weapons, a security official said.

The arrested men were members of the banned Lashkar-e-Islam militant group, Pakistan intelligence officials said.

"They came here soon after the security force operation and were staying at a house. They planned to target law enforcement agency installations and officials in reaction to it," a security official, who declined to be identified, said on Thursday.
