Islamabad: Two US diplomatic outposts in Pakistan received envelopes containing an unknown white powder last week, sparking a security scare, a US Embassy spokesman said on Sunday.
Tests are being conducted on the substance, spokesman Lou Fintor said, adding that a very small number of people had contact with the envelopes.
"No one has reported any symptoms of illness so far," Fintor said, adding that they were under observation.
"We're taking normal routine precautions." The envelopes were sent to the US Consulate in Karachi on Thursday and the US Embassy in Islamabad on Friday.
Fintor said both facilities have remained open and are operating normally, with no plans to close them.
