He has also visited Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistani Kashmir, and exchanged views with the authorities there on the current wave of protests by the people in Indian Kashmir.

Qureshi told the ambassador that the situation in Indian Kashmir was of great concern. He said the recent uprising in Kashmir was entirely indigenous and response by the Indian security forces had created a difficult situation for the Kashmiri people. The minister said the Kashmiris were being subjected to economic blockade and excessive use of force.

Qureshi said Pakistan stood for a negotiated settlement of the Kashmir dispute and appreciated the efforts of OIC Secretary General and his special representative on Kashmir for the cause of the Kashmiri people.

He underlined the need for a result-oriented dialogue for resolution of all issues between Pakistan and India.
