Islamabad: Former president Pervez Musharraf has received invitations to deliver lectures to foreign think tanks on terrorism, peace and security and relations between Islam and the West, a local television channel reported on Wednesday.
Musharraf, who resigned in August under intense pressure from the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-N, told the TV channel he was considering these invitations but had no immediate plan to travel abroad.
The former soldier-president, much maligned by opponents for pushing the country into the US-led war on terrorism, was quoted as saying the new setup in Pakistan must continue to combat terrorism.
Musharraf has been living with his family in the former Army House in the nearby garrison city of Rawalpindi since his resignation. The government has provided him with the same security he had during his long stay in power.
