Manila/Mindanao: A TV reporter was reported missing after she failed to return to her hotel in Sulu, in the southern Philippines, the military said.
"Troops were deployed to track the whereabouts of Cez Drilon of ABS CBN," said Commander Major General Juancho Sabban,
"We have sent troops in areas where Abu Sayyaf members are based in Maimbung, Talipao, and Indanan in Sulu," said Sabban, head of an anti terror group in the south.
The military began combing all terrorist lairs following a report which quoted passengers of a vehicle as saying they saw armed men dragging Drilon out of a vehicle and forcing her in to another vehicle in Maimbung.
A Marine officer, whose name was not identified, was quoted as saying that he and Drilon were aboard the same flight to Sulu.
The Marine officer offered Drilon security but she declined to accept it.
He said Drilon told him that she was invited to go to Sulu by Mindanao State University Professor Octavio Dinampo for some project.
Glenda Gloria of ABS CBN news online, confirmed that Drilon went missing.
The Abu Sayyaf terror group, based in the southern Sulu and Basilan Islands, has been responsible for kidnap for ransom, bombing, and other terror activities in the south and, recently, in Metro Manila.
The ASG has links with Jemaah Islamiyah, the Southeast Asian conduit of the Al Qaida terror network.
