Khanty-Mansiik, Russia: Disputes over energy investment and human rights hung over a Russia-EU summit on Friday where the two sides agreed they would try to address their differences in new talks on a stalled cooperation agreement.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and the EU representatives said the talks would start next week in Brussels on a wide-ranging Russia-EU cooperation deal.
Medvedev criticised US plans for missile defence sites in Europe, saying it will undermine regional security.
Vladimir Putin has fiercely opposed the US plan to set up a missile base in Poland and a related radar in the Czech Republic.
