Bangkok: Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to corruption charges levelled against him.
Standing before the country’s Supreme Court, Thaksin made the plea in one of two cases. They relate to real estate purchases made by his wife in 2003.
The court has already granted him permission to leave for England so he can watch Manchester City football club play, which he currently owns.
Thaksin was ousted by a September 2006 military coup for alleged corruption and abuse of power.
