Miami: A Jamaican international drug kingpin has been sentenced to nearly 37 years in prison on Friday for conspiring to smuggle cocaine into the United States, prosecutors said.
Leebert Ramcharan led a sophisticated smuggling ring from Columbia to Jamaica between 1998 and 2004, prosecutors said.
The cocaine was transported by speedboat and airplane to the Bahamas and ultimately to the US market.
US District Judge Patricia Seitz sentenced Ramcharan on Friday to 440 months in prison, the US Attorney's Office in Miami said.
