Washington: US Senator Barack Obama won the Democratic primaries in three states on Saturday, US media projected.

Obama won in Louisiana, Nebraska and Washington in a burst of momentum following a deadlocked race with rival Hillary Clinton.

"We won in Louisiana, we won in Nebraska, we won in Washington state, we won North, we won South, we won in between, and I believe that we can win Virginia on Tuesday if you're ready to stand for change," Obama said.

Among Republicans, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee won the presidential contest in Kansas and Louisiana.

Huckabee captured about 60 per cent of the vote in Kansas, more than double race front-runner John McCain's total.

"This race is far from being over," Huckabee said. He is now the only major opponent for McCain the Republican race to choose a candidate in November's presidential election.
