Johnstown: Democratic presidential hopeful, Barack Obama rejected calls on Saturday for his chief opponent, Hillary Clinton, to step down from the race for the Democratic party nomination.
Reacting to calls from party members, Obama told reporters that he did not agree that Clinton should end her campaign, adding that she should run "as long as she wants".
On Sunday, Clinton defied mounting pressure for her to leave the race and said she will stick through till the end, saying she has "no intention of stopping until we finish what we started".
This declaration came shortly after influential Senator Patrick Leahy, a staunch Obama supporter who heads the Judiciary Committee, appeared to suggest she should quit.
Leahy also said the protracted Democratic nomination fight was benefiting Republicans, a suggestion which Obama also refuted by expressing confidence that Democrats will coalesce around the winner, despite the often bitter contest.
