London: Thirty seven more British Airways flights have been cancelled, and about 15,000 pieces of luggage remain in backlog, as Heathrow’s newest terminal’s chaos enters its fourth day.
A spokeswoman for the carrier said about 11 per cent of flights had been cancelled on Sunday, and that figure would increase to 13 per cent for the following two days. She did add that they hoped to improve the flying schedule during the week.
Faulty operations, including computer log-on failures and delays have caused a backlog of 15,000 bags as well, adding to the turmoil at the airport.
The spokeswoman added that around six per cent of luggage has not reached its owners, only adding to British Airways’ existing reputation as the worst baggage handler.
Since Terminal 5’s grand opening on March 27, 200 flights have been cancelled. However, plans for the second stage of operations that includes a complete move of British Airways flights to Terminal 5 are still scheduled to go ahead.
