London: Bird flu has been found in a farm in southern England, Britain’s farm ministry said on Wednesday.

All birds on the farm were slaughtered when authorities confirmed that the strain discovered is the virulent H7.

The strain is not the deadly H5N1 which has claimed more than 200 human lives and killed millions of birds.

Britain’s Food Standards Agency said on Wednesday properly cooked poultry and poultry products, including eggs, were safe for consumption.
