Harare: Talks are to be resumed between President Robert Mugabe's ruling party and Zimbabwe's opposition, state media reported on Tuesday.

The opposition Movement for Democratic Change has agreed to resume negotiations with Zanu-PF under the mediation of South African President Thabo Mbeki, Zimbabwean Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa said.

The details of these negotiations were not provided.Tendai Biti, a senior MDC official, declined to confirm or deny the report.

MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai refused the oppositions' participation in any negotiations, until Mugabe's government would halt the political violence against his supporters.
