Programmes to help spot talented pace bowlers, spinners and batsmen and award scholarships

Dubai: G Force Cricket Academy will stage a cricket Masterclass event from November 26 to December 3 with specialised coaches who have made a mark in fast bowling, spin and batting taking trainees under their wings at the DPS Academy.
T.A. Sekar, who has groomed some of the best fast bowlers in world cricket along with UAE national team coach and former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed, will spot talent in three age categories under ‘Speed Unlimited’ programme. The age categories will be under-14, 14 to 18 and 18 and above.
Gopal Jasapara, the head coach of the G Force Academy, told Gulf News: “Sekar and Javed will spot talented pacers in these three age categories and the winner will get a scholarship of Dh 3000 and free two days master class from them. We will be providing scholarships for talented spinners too.”
Former Indian cricket and spin bowling coach Aashish Kapoor will spot spinners through “Spin a Web programme’ to be held on November 28.
Former West Indies captain Jimmy Adams, who is also the Kent Cricket County Head Coach, will conduct a two day master class for batsmen on December 2 and 3. Twelve promising cricketers from India are also being flown in to take part in this specialised coaching event.
“It was through G Force’s talent hunt for fast bowlers which commenced from 2007 that UAE pacer Zahoor Faroqui emerged. David Mathias from this progamme also went on to represent Karnataka state in India. Sekar believes that if correct techniques are not mastered by a fast bowler it can lead to a waste of energy as well as injuries.
Hunt for talented fast bowlers, skillful spinners and able batsmen at the grass root level is expected to also help Javed to have a look at players who can be groomed to play for UAE. Cricketers wanting specialised coaching from experts can email to gforcecricket@gmail.com.
